Is This Trip Right for You?

This moderately active program covers a lot of ground each day. Expect up to four hours walking every touring day. A few early wake-ups and some long drives, as well as one long 8-hour train ride to Denali are necessary to cover the territory. Bus access to Denali National Park is regulated by the National Park Service and only authorized buses are allowed to operate within the park. These buses are school buses with bench seats and no restrooms on board. The pace is moderate, however you will encounter some uneven surfaces, stairs, and steps throughout the tour. Some hotels in Denali, Seward and Homer are built in the traditional local style and have no air-conditioning. During heat waves, these hotels can become uncomfortable. The altitude in the National Parks varies and may be a consideration for those who have heart conditions or are otherwise affected by height. During this tour, you may come into proximity of wild animals whose actions can be unpredictable. Certain inherent risks are involved which should be considered at your own discretion. Flights to Anchorage may arrive late and depart very late (red eye). Airport transfers are not included. Consider a taxi or shared ride service as the least expensive options.
